yeah, i'm new to 3dsmax, i'v just been trying to learn it. the problem is i just created my first "big" picture, it contains a lot of different textures, the problem is i need to add a couple more, but i don't have the room in 3dsmax. there are no "spheres" left to put textures on in the material editor. is there any way to add more or any way around this problem. thanx for any halp.. oh i'm running 3dsmax 4

Well my friend this is your lucky day- Max 4 (or 2,3x whatever) has pretty much unlimited texture slots. First go to you "get texture" icon (ball with arrow) and then select Standard from the "New" drop down list (or whatever you need) and double click it. This loads in a new "blank" ball. But is it over top your old texture? Nope. Your old one can be retrieved by that same "get" icon but select "Scene" instead of "New". One ohter tip from a long time user. NAME all of your shader/textures! Also name all of your objects! This will save amny hours of confusion in the long run. Everyone resists this at first but believe me, it's worth it. Another tip- when you are done with your scene textures (or almost done), click get, then use "scene" to see all the textures you just made-THEN click "Save As" and name your new material library file the name of your scene. That way in your next project just go to Get, Material Library and select one of your alreadyt made textures instead of having to make all new ones. Good luck.
