Looking for input. I am evaluating Digital Nature Tools and Digimation Seascape plugins.
I need a plugin to simulate water for an ocean scene. Just curious if any of you have used one or both. Seascape at least has a 5 day trial but DNT does not. With DNT you can only look at their sample files. Kinda hard to evaluate when you can't use the damn thing.
Anyway let's hear your opinions.
Thanks,

last year i worked on a project for sony which required the "perfect storm" look (see it at www.oktobor.com look for sony hurricane). Myself and my collegue looked at both seascape and dnt. dnt seemed to produce waves that were very up and downy, that is to say that something on the surface remained in the same location if viewed from the top and only moved vertically, (which may be true for large volumes of water) however seascape was able to produce the push pull force created by the swells, which is what we wanted. i know very little about dnt, as we had to decided quickley on which product to go with, so i cant say that dnt doesnt do the same, we just found it quicker in seascape (which also gives an indication to its ease of use) we found it very easy to set up the wave forms we wanted and by doubling up the same modifiers we were able to get HUGE looking waves.
one thing we couldnt do though, was crest them. we had to get tricky with texturing too and devise a particle method for the foam also.
with seascape we were able to attach an objext to the surface of the sea and play it back in real time to check out the action (only using the main wave modifiers not the one for finer sea turbulence, which we added at rendering time.)
i'd quite like to hear anything about dnt too though.
please bear in mind this project is over a year old and i havnt used it since, so things could have changed too.
hope this was helpfull

Yes it was thank you. I'm still evaluating but I have discovered a new package. DreamScape from the makers of Afterburn.

Given Afterburn's reputation I'd like to check DreamScape out. It looks pretty cool.
